Well another week down. Addi and I have decided that we are going to stick around NC for the holidays and for a while afterwards. Addi has had such a crazy month and with the hype of Santa and Christmas, I think it is just best to get her stable here. I am unsure with some of her unrest and temperament if it is dealing with the loss of Bo, Christmas or her unstable past month, so here we are and here we stay. If you have plans we are here and we would love to see everyone, as much as possible.
Speaking of Addi, lately her big issue/question is that she knows her father so well. The question we deal with all the time is, "I know Daddy is asking God to let him come back to his daughter, because that would make her happy. And her Daddy would do anything to make her happy." (So Bo...) Tough one I know...so I explain to her the God needed Daddy to be an angel with him to help make us and a lot of other people happy. We will always have Daddy with us in our hearts and our fun stories/memories.
Now switch to today. We received some of the prettiest snow today. Which is a little early for this year. Addi was so in love with it and everything about it. We decided that her Daddy would do anything to make her the happiest girl in the world, hence the wonderful snow. Her Daddy can't be with us physically, but he went to work in heaven and gave her one of the greatest days. I promise we will not always be so sentimental (sappy), but today we needed it. We then proceeded to have hot chocolate, her cup has hearts all over it, and she showed me where each of our hearts were on the cup. "All our hearts were connected."
We are excited for Christmas (I need to get moving with the final things to get done and start wrapping.) I am sure the holidays will get harder the closer we get, but right now we are focused on enjoying the day and knowing that Daddy loved us so much. Having a 4 year old makes you push though and carry on. Bo and I decided a long time ago that she deserved the best from both of us, unfortunately that was harder on Bo back in the day. But he always rose to the occasion. Now it is my time...our time.
Love to All
Christi and Addi

I caught myself thinking that Bo sent the snow today too. It made me so happy.

Christi,
You are an amazing mom that has been able to eloquently help Addi understand. You know best what you need to do for the holidays, so have peace in your decision. We continue to pray and think of you every day.
Love you tons!

Christi,
To have that much snow in Charlotte so close to Christmas must be sent from above. You and Addi are right, Bo must of put in a good word with the Big Guy for you.

I don't know how you explain to a child something most adults can't begin to understand, but you are doing a wonderful job. I think of you both every day and pray for you every night. Just remember, we (the people of the blog, your family and friends), Bo and God are with you every step of the way.

Love, Jenn in CA

Christi, I have been shoveling all morning (great idea- another foot is coming) thinking about all of you. I find comfort in the fact that you and Addi have each other and amazing memories of Bo. Try to focus on happy thoughts and know that so many of us are thinking about you.

the Motts in Jamestown loved playing in the snow too. How beautiful it is in the morning after the storm. The sun is brighter, birds sing louder, squirrels chase each other round & round. I marvel at the beauty of God's creation. He has a great assistant in our departed friend Bo--get to work but always make time for play!!!!

Christi, you & Addi are in our prayers constantly. May the Peace of this Christmas season remind you of all the special memories you had with Bo. He was such a special, caring person. My hope is that is how people look at my life when it is done. Although a life cut short, Bo lived way more than many people do with much more time.

God's peace,

Dear Addi,
As it is now 12 am here in CA, it is the 21st of December. 25 years ago today, I lost my own father to cancer, when I was still quite young, as are you. I have been thinking of you so much these last couple weeks, with aching heart as I wonder if christmas music will always mean sadness to you, and I am hoping and praying every day that it does not. I hope so much for you that your sadness is more manageable as you grow, and that you always have a song inside as you face the day. Your mother is doing such an amazing job getting you both through this.... my wish for you both is everlasting peace and happiness after this terrible time has passed. I don't know you... but i know you. And I feel so close to you, for having shared this terrible thing in common. when you get old enough to read this, I hope you will have accumulated many many ways of feeling close to your dad.. ways that don't mean anything to anyone else, or make much sense except to you and your mom. Those are the real ways of connecting- the invisible threads that bind you to someone. You will have many of those. Things you think are funny that no one else understands-- there will be a time when you come to understand you have your father's sense of humor, or his outlook on the world, or any other hundred million ways of seeing yourself as an extension of him. Always remember, you are never without him, and he loved you very much. I wish I could reach through the internet and hold you tight- because I know how it may hurt, and I wish I could spare you that. All I can say is you have the best mom out there... it is so plain and clear how much she loves you, so never ever forget that, OR your dad. You will be stronger for this, though it's a terrible way to grow strong. You will be tough when you need to be-- you are growing strong right now. And most of all, you are correct, 100%, that your hearts are all connected. Please never forget that. I promise you, the love does go on.

On Dec. 22nd, 2003 - my husband and I lost his grandfather to lung cancer. We brought him into our home for his last few weeks. It was heartbreaking to follow your blog. However - your grace and strength are inspiring. Christi - you have made such an impact on so many lives. And, dear sweet Bo - I will always remember the lessons he taught me, Forgive and Forget.

Christi and Addi - I know that Christmas this year will be tough, and our heartfelt prayers go out to you. But, we know that Bo will get to spend his Christmas right beside Jesus. I'm sure Jesus and the angels will be cracking up at his wit and stories!! What an amazing Christmas he will have and I hope that gives you some comfort. We are praying for you and the entire family and thinking of you.
