Hello Everyone! (Christi) Just a quick little note out there to let you all know that things are good here. I personally had a rough day yesterday, no rough physically or emotionally, let's just say a rough day with the dogs. Charlie got stuck and cut himself, but everyone is now okay. For more details just email me and I can fill you in on the rest. I just wanted to make sure that everyone knew and would help pray for two friends. I know not everyone reads the comments, so we wanted to make sure we always keep others in our thoughts and prayers. First is a sweet 4 year old little boy, that is fighting cancer, Sam Keziah . Below is the comments from Suella...

Bo,
It's been awhile since I have posted a comment, but I wanted to let you know that it is awesome to see the fruit of our prayers is working! I have a request to many of your strong prayer warriors. There is a little 4 year old boy in Levine's children hospital that has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Wilm's Disease. It started in his kidney and has now spread to his lungs. His parents took him for a dr visit due to congestion in his chest and this is the nightmare they have endured since the week of Christmas. He has a website: www.caringbridge.org/visit/samkeziah
where you can read their journal and post prayer comments in his guestbook. It's wonderful that Addi's Cure is providing funds to fight cancer! I am still praying for you and your family and I hope that many will start praying for Sam Keziah as well. As a parent- I can't imagine the heartache that is felt to see your child in pain and hooked to tubes.
Thanks for the opportunity to let others know!
Suella Russell

Next is for Ginny...she is an amazing lady that has overcome a lot in a short amount of time. Please pray for her continued success. Her friend wrote to us and shared Ginny's blog link...

Bo & Family... I'm one of your random readers from Chicago (came to you from another blog). I just wanted to let you know that a good friend of mine has been inspired by your journal of hope and energy and started her own.
http://www.vmezb.blogspot.com/

Thanks for letting people in to your story.. it reminds other folks that they aren't alone and if they share their story..someone will be there to listen. Sarah, Chicago IL

We know there is a lot of people out there fighting and overcoming remarkable odds. And Bo and I completely believe your constant prayers have helped us and will help others. Stay strong and positive, this is an unbelievable world we live in where people are overcoming unbelievable odds.

Love to All
Christi

Bo - I shared your story with a neighbor who works for the Herald and she showed interest in your story and Addi's cure - I sent her a link to your blog and to the addi's cure website - She is sending this story to her editor - hopefully she will be able to share your story to the community in hopes for more money raised and lung cancer awareness.

Recently, several of the readers of Bo's blog have taken the time to e-mail Oprah Winfrey and to ask her to have Bo and Christi on her show so they can tell their story about his courageous battle with Stage IV Lung Cancer (BAC), the fact that he has raised over $100,000.00 for lung cancer in a few short months for critical research at the Duke Cancer Research Center, and above all, that lung cancer is one of the most deadly diseases in America today and kills over a hundred thousand Americans, young and old, each and every year. The bottom line is that you don't have to smoke to get lung cancer. Just ask Bo or go to the American Cancer Society Website.

If everyone living in America today would get a lung X-RAY every year, along with a full physical and lab work-up, thousands of lives would be saved each year. Just think of the future monetary saving for health care insurance companies, hospitals, doctors, counties, and the health care industry, in general. Every insurance company in America today should pay for anyone that has health insurance to have a lung X-RAY. Ask for it and don't take no for a answer. If your health insurance company won't pay for a lung X-RAY this year, look for a company that will, or contact your senator and congressman, or congresswoman, and ask for bills to be introduced in the U.S. Senate and U.S. Congress, to mandate it by law, this year, or in 2008. If they won't do it, tell them you and your family will all remember that the next election. They will take notice when it comes to losing votes in their future election campaigns.

Please take a moment of your time and e-mail Oprah Winfey, and her show's producers, at:

http://www2.oprah.com/email/email_landing.jhtml

If everyone reading this blog will do this on Monday, and if there are the numbers that I think there is, Oprah may now take notice and realize the impact that Bo is having on all of our lives, and that he has a story that needs to be told in order to save others from going through what he is currently going through. Also, please ask your families, friends, members of your church, work co-workers, PTA, and anyone else you know or can think of, to please do the same. Bo's story needs to be told...let's make that happen. That's the least we can all do for Bo, Christi, and Addi.

Also, after you have e-mailed the Oprah show, please post a short comment on this blog so we all have some idea of how many of us have sent e-mails. 10,000+ e-mails to Oprah would be a good round number. We can do it...if each one of us reading this sends an e-mail.

Reading this could save your life, or the life of someone in your family. Please take a few moments and read the following comments:

In reference to the comments by the reader about lung cancer, often a lung X-Ray will only detect lung cancer when it is in an advanced state, such as stage III or stage IV, when treatment is often unsuccessful. Anyone reading this should consider having a spiral CT scan of the lungs. In a recent study of 32,000 men and women who were at high risk of lung cancer, the spiral CT scan detected 484 cases of lung cancer, of which 85% were in the earilest stages. When such tumors are detected early, the survival rate may be 90% plus over a ten year time period. In comparision, 95% of those who had lung cancer diagnosed after symptions develop, often die within five years. Talk to your doctor about a spiral CT scan to detect lung cancer. He or she can answer any questions you might have. Also, some suggestions to prevent lung cancer.

1. If you smoke, stop now. If you smoke now, or have ever smoked, schedule a full medical checkup, with a spiral CT scan of your lungs, within the next 30 days. After that, get a medical checkup on a regular basis.
2. If your spouse smokes, ask he or she to stop. Second hand smoke is now thought to be as deadly as if you smoked.
3. If you are a parent, stop smoking. Do you really want to risk giving your child, or your children, lung cancer. Again. if you smoke, stop. You are a role model, good and bad. Think about it.
4. If you live or work in a smoke filled enviroment, do everything in your power to change that. It's your life, make it a long one.
5. If your children smoke, tell them that until they are adults, they will not smoke, and stick to your guns. Smoking is not only expensive, it kills.
6. Have your home and office work enviroment checked for Radon Gas. Radon Gas is responsible for many cases of lung cancer.
7. Have your water supply at home and work checked for chemicals, and Radon Gas. Yes, Radon Gas is in your water supply. If needed, install a good quality water treatment system.
8. If your friends or other family members smoke around you, ask them not to. Granted it is their right to smoke, but it is your right to life. Insist on that right.
9. Research the causes of lung cancer on the Internet and do everything you can do to minimize the risk to you and your family. Just go to Google and enter American Cancer Society. That will bring up their website. Don't talk about it, just do it. Today, if possible, as tomorrow may never come.
10. Develop a healthy lifestyle. Avoid sugars, soda, fast foods, too much red meat, and any other foods that can cause cancer. It's a new year, start an exercise program and stick to it. Ask your spouse to join you. Anything is easier if two people do it together. Lose weight if you need to. Obesity is now thought to be a very high contributing factor to all cancers. If you drink alcoholic beverages, drink red wine, in moderation. Red wine has certain properties that are now thought to prevent cancer. Your immune system is your number one defense against cancer. Keep it in top running condition so it can do it's job.
11. The last suggestion is the most important. If you don't contribute to cancer research, do it today, after reading these comments. If everyone living in the United States would contribute just one dollar a month for cancer research, there could possibly be a cure within five years. If you can afford just $12.00 a year, (the price of two fast food meals) send a check tomorrow. If you can afford more, send a check every month, to stop this killer in it's tracks. The cure is there. We all need to fund future cancer research to find it. Contact Bo or Christi on how you can donate. Remember that the Addi's Cure Foundation donates every single dollar that it receives to fund lung cancer research.

If you think about it, we are all responsible for our own destiny, whether that be good, or whether that be bad. If you can't stop smoking, eat healthy, lose weight, or exercise for yourself, do it for your family. Life is a one time trip. Make the most out of it. You only have one chance to do it right. Also, if you know of someone who smokes, lives with someone who smokes, etc., forward these comments to them.
