I just saw Bo and he is doing well. He is a little more rested than this morning after his morning workout. They are trying to work on his fluid levels, they believe that he is retaining fluid that is inhibiting, a little, his ability to breath. So they are working on him removing these fluids and then they will try again his breathing. Once he is off the ventilator for 48 hours we are out of ICU. It is time for Bo's game face to kick in...For all comments posted to help Bo push through this tough time, I will be sure to read to him. Thank you for all your support and love.

Bo,
You have come a long way. it is probably going to get a little harder before it gets easier, so be ready. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon. Keep the head up, you can do this.

Bo- You are in my thoughts and prayers every day...probably the reason why I had this crazy dream with you in it. I'll have to share it sometime, not that it would make much sense!! But it will make you laugh! You keep fighting, stay strong...Christi, you too!! Little hugs to Addi and big hug to you both. You are truly admired and loved by so many...Very lucky!!

Great news! Time to bring on the stubborn get-me-out-of-the-hospital Bo! You'd better believe we'll be visiting from the 9th floor once he's out of the ICU. (Just try and stop us!)

Bo, you're doing great, I think you have the biggest cheering section of anyone I've ever seen. I told Christi yesterdy...can't wait to break out the stethoscope on those new lungs! I'll bet they're going to sound AWESOME!

Bo,
You can do this! You have come so far with such strength and I know your perserverance. No one in any contest would want to go up against you. Do it Bo! Do it! You still owe me a lunch on our Duke-UConn bet. I plan to collect!
Love to you,

Our angel Kate is watching over you Bo -- be steadfast, be focused, never quit (you won't) I continue to pray for your recovery -- and to hold your Addi & Christi -- you have remarkable ladies!

Rock on -- I have asked my Costa Rican friends to pray for you as well -- I am checking the blog from San Jose!

God is good. He wants you to recover. He wants you to live a full life with Christi and Addi. Continue to think positive and pray. Listen to what he says and continue to ask for guidance. You are being blessed. I know it seems unfair. God will help you to understand. Continue on your journey. You are an inspiration.

Hey Guys,

It is Elizabeth. Hang in there Bo, coming off the vent was the hardest thing in the world but the therapist will help you along the way. I came off the vent with my crummy old lungs , so I know you can do it with your new ones. The T-collar trials are hard and scary but necessary to strengthen the lungs. It brings back many memories to read about you going through the same thing. Some of that old fear creeps back in, but then I remember how miraculous it was to be free from the machines and breath on my own. That day will be soon for you. Slowly all the tubes and lines will taken away and you will be able to move about much easier.
Do not get frustrated with Physical therapy it really does work. Thinking and praying for all of you.

Hey Bo keep fighting hard , you are doing great. Just think of all the times Coach Wilkins made us run all those suicides in B-Ball practice and you never quit; you beat them like you are going to beat this. We will keep you and your family in our prayers.

I am so happy to hear of your progress. We never doubted that Bo has the will to defeat anything that is dished out. Keep up the good work because you know everyone will be checking in on your progress. We are so proud of all of you and blessed to call you family.

All our love,
Crystal (from Iowa)

Way to go Bo! You are handling this like you've done it a couple times...oh wait a minute that's right you have! LOL! You've always been somebody I've looked up to for an arsenal of reasons. Your electric, on the go personality and determination to be there, wherever there is…has always made you get there! Just as you knew before you graduated you'd clear your 25k credit card debt, you know now you'll clear your lungs of fluid and fill them full of life! Keep up that same radical fight to get there, we all can't wait to see your smile again! I love you soooo much! I can't wait to take you up on our karting challenge, you’ve beaten cancer but I’m going to beat your tail at karting!

P.S. Jo and Christi said their going to choke you when your well...just wanted to give you a heads up, guy code!

You have come along way! I am so proud of you. Hang in there and keep your head up and don't give up. I know you are a fighter till the end. There will be light at the end of the tunnel. Listen to your therapists as well as your Physical therapist. the end result will be great. Then you can come back with your smiling face to Pulmonary Rehab were you can go through some more fun.

Hi Bo,

I have been reading all about you, and even though I don't post often, please know that I am aware of all of your trials and I do ask God to watch over you and help you through this.

You have been given a second chance at life for a reason. So now is the time for you to put it back in high gear. Your strong will to live, your amazing family and friends, and all who read your blog are expecting great things from you and I know in my heart you will not disappoint them. You have always been able to set goals and attain them through hard work and determination, so this job of getting back to normal should be a piece of cake (I know you don't like nuts but you can spit them out if they happen to be in the piece given to you :))

Love you,
Joyce

PS: I think Christi is Amazing!!!

Christi,

Dusty Donaldson here. We have not met but I've been following Bo's story via your blog and some mutual lung cancer friends. I'm writing to request a favor of you and Bo for a lung cancer awareness project I'm working on. If you have any down time and can give me a quick call or email, I'll explain.

I will keep you, Bo and Addi in my prayers.

Dear Christi,
I am a childhood friend of Bo's from Long John Mtn Estates in Hendersonville. I just found out less than a week ago that this was even going on with Bo, and I have read every post from the beginning to get all caught up. I am impressed, but not surprised, by Bo's tenacity to deal with this. Your posts are uplifting, and it is so amazing that you keep us so informed in the midst of everything that's going on. I have a little girl, Bradyn, who is just about a month younger than your Addi. We live in Myrtle Beach and hope to play with you on the beach once Bo is well and ready to travel. I work at Alabama Theatre in Barefoot Landing - as soon as Bo is back on his feet and you come to the beach to celebrate, let me know and I will gladly get you tickets to see the show. Please tell Bo that although I haven't known long about this, I have thought about him and prayed for him nonstop ever since. We are sending lots of love your way.
Sincerely,
Wimberly Hubert

Hi, I know you do not know me, but I want to let your know that I am reading you blog and praying for you to beat this disease. I recently lost my father at the age of 51 to pancreatic and lung cancer. His fight was short (about 6 weeks). Your story is such an inspiration to all. Your fight to beat this is amazing. I know you have a long road ahead, but stay strong and keep fighting.

Also, I am sure you know of the Lawrenson(spelling) story. Tricia and Gweneth. Tricia has CF and had a double lung transplant there at Duke while all along her premature baby Gweneth struggled to survive also. Their blog site is cfhusband.blogspot.com. Tricia recently went home after the transplant and is doing really well, as is Gweneth. I thought talking to them may help you to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Don't give up and trust in God. He does perform miracles.

Stay strong and we are praying for you.
